What You Appear to Be
Lauren Christine Gleason

According to Machiavelli (see the applicable quote to the left) a person can be seen as one of two things: "what you appear to be" and "what you are." My purpose, when you visit this webpage, is to show you both aspects of myself. Consider this webpage as a mental notebook for all of my thoughts and discoveries that do not require prose to explain. A few quibbles have been addressed in my diary to appease the overeager writer that has been lurking inside of me recently. I know that you are saying, "Maybe that writer will go away soon and there won't be all that endless babble on her webpage!" We'll see...

Are you watching the Super Bowl? If not, like me, go and read my most recent diary entry. Also make the best of the movie marathons on the channels trying to pull viwers away from football!

Tonight as I was driving I thought of something that warranted some space on my diary webpage - the topic of music. Yes, I know I have mentioned it before but a good thought always deserves revisiting every once in awhile.

I was so productive today but only in the diary department. There are TWO new entries to read there - one is a funny story from high school and the other is some pictures of Danny from the Inaugural Parade on Saturday. Go and check them out!

Boredom or an abundance of brain waves? You decide. I have posted yet another diary entry.

A posted a "top ten" list in my diary and the topic is "reasons my sorority sisters think I am a nerd." I wrote it up the other night and thought it might be amusing to those who know me. I am going to try and have other "top ten" lists as soon as I find another topic that is as inspirational.

What do you think of the new look? It is warm enough here in Florida to already think of summer so I thought the flip-flops were appropriate. I hope to have the whole site covered with them by the time summer really sets in.

I hereby pledge not to ramble on endlessly about IPPD in my diary anymore! I realize that it has the potential to become really overwhelming soon. IPPD runs my life but I will do what I can to keep it off of my webpage. So go check out what I wrote tonight after a major IPPD design review. (I promise to only mention important events from the project - such as reviews.)

We're getting back into "the swing of things" here at UF with yet another diary entry. This frequency of new entries can't last much longer so don't get used to it!

Today I turned twenty-two years old. Yes, that would make it my birthday. And in honor of my birthday I have written a new diary entry. Today was also the second day of spring semester classes. I am starting to get bored with all of this free time, and for those of you who know me that is a rare statement. Fear not, I am sure it will not last long.

I added a guestbook to my diary webpage. I want to get an idea of the kind of people who read my writing. If you feel so inclined please go and drop me a line there.

Back in Gainesville and already I am writing an update. I can't promise that it will be the most interesting thing you have read, but I was enjoying my free time so much that I thought I'd write about it. Spring classes start tomorrow so that will be the official end of the break. Goody.

Thanks to a correction provided by someone who read my last diary entry I must make one little change. We have now entered the THIRD millenium, not the second as I previously stated. Whoops. In other news I have posted a cute comic strip and my spring schedule in a new diary entry.

I forgot to include the "quote of the day" when I posted yesterday's entry but never fear, it has been added this morning. Also check out the archive of my updates ("Notes Archive" link to the left). It doesn't look as nice as this page yet but I am working on it.

Happy new year - welcome to the second millenium and the twenty-first century. I am starting out this year with a new diary entry to amuse all of my faithful readers. I will try and have a little millenium comic strip compilation up there soon too. It's time to go warm up the old electric blanket because it promises to be another freezing night in Tallahassee.
