What You Appear to Be
Lauren Christine Gleason

According to Machiavelli (see the applicable quote to the left) a person can be seen as one of two things: "what you appear to be" and "what you are." My purpose, when you visit this webpage, is to show you both aspects of myself. Consider this webpage as a mental notebook for all of my thoughts and discoveries that do not require prose to explain. At this point I am moving the main webpage posts to lgleason.blogspot.com. I'm not sure if this move will be permanent. I am leaving the archives of this webpage on Tripod and they will be linked on my new page. This does not mean abandonment of this site yet. We'll see how it goes.

Thank goodness it's the weekend. Tripod has started putting pop-up ads with my webpage in addition to the ones already on there so I am exploring other server options. One possibility is Blogspot which has on-page ads, but that's no different from the way Tripod used to be. We'll see if I can come up with something better. Until then I have about three diary entries in the works. I am hoping that by the end of the weekend, homework permitting, there will be at least one posted.

Will grad school application hassles never end?

More pictures have been added to my PictureTrail photos page. I brought dozens of pictures from home to scan so this will be an ongoing project. Eventually the "Europe 1997" album will be larger than the others by far. Until then, enjoy the new additions.

Back in Gainesville once again. My long weekend in Tallahassee was just what I needed but now it's time to get back to school. Speaking of school, I am struggling with some homework at the moment so I'm going to go finish that.

All of the graduate school applications have been sent! You don't know what a relief this is to me. Now I need to make sure that all of the materials were received by the respective schools. This is a concern because I found out yesterday that one of my references hasn't written my letters of recommendation yet. More to come.

After a rather expensive visit to Pak Mail, my USC fellowship application is on its way to the admissions committee. The last thing I have to do for that particular school is mail my statement of purpose to the department seperately. It won't be long before grad school applications are a thing of the past for me.

My Stanford and Cal Tech graduate school applications have now both been submitted. Three down, two to go. Now I need to walk to Women's Chorale and it's raining. Fun.
